    Following successful nationwide screenings of DEATH NOTE and DEATH NOTE II: THE LAST NAME in 2008, VIZ Pictures and NCM Fathom are teaming up once again for a special two night, multi-city US theatrical event for the third live-action DEATH NOTE feature film, DEATH NOTE: L, change the WorLd, on April 29th and 30th at 7:30 pm local time. By popular demand, a subtitled version will be presented on April 29th and an English-dubbed version on April 30th with L’s voice played by Alessandro Juliani from the anime series. Both nights will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews of Kenichi Matsuyama (L), Alessandro Juliani, and director Hideo Nakata. DEATH NOTE: L, change the WorLd introduces the unwritten chapter of DEATH NOTE and reveals how the legendary detective “L” spends the final 23 days of his life. The story begins as L takes on the “Kira” case, in which countless criminals are dying under mysterious circumstances. L successfully solves the case and stops Kira, but only after sacrificing his life, leaving himself with only 23 days left to live. Tickets for this special event will be available at participating theater box offices and online beginning March 23rd.     Prize: A. There are five prizes in total. Each prize consists of two (2) tickets for the US screening of the subtitled DEATH NOTE: L, change the WorLd on April 29th. Contestants will be able to choose which theater they would like to attend. B. VIZ Pictures will mail passes to the contest winners. C. In the event that a winner chooses not to (or cannot) accept a prize, he or she forfeits all claim to that prize. D. One entry per person. Prizes are non-transferable. No substitution of prizes allowed. E. These passes are for admission to the subtitled DEATH NOTE: L, change the WorLd screening only. VIZ Pictures is providing complimentary admission with the condition that no other benefits are implied. Complete and submit correct answers to the online questionnaire (see below). B. All entries must be complete, including entrant`s name, email address, home phone number, answers to the questionnaire, as well as the theater they will attend. Determination of winners: A. Only contestants who have submitted the requested information and the correctly answered questionnaire will be entered in the final drawing.     Welcome to SciFi Japan, your source for news and information on science fiction, horror, fantasy and action movies, TV shows and videos.. from classics and old favorites, to upcoming productions and home video releases, to the odd and obscure titles you may never have heard of!

    The mainstream press has largely ignored Japanese tokusatsu (special effects) films, and when the genre has been covered by American news outlets and television the results were often inaccurate and condescending. On the other hand, there have been some excellent fan publications and websites devoted to these films, but Japanese studios have been extremely reluctant to deal with fan groups due to concerns over copyright infringement issues (some fans advocate and promote activities such as video bootlegging and unlicensed downloading). With no direct access to studio news and photos, fan reporting has often been forced to rely on secondhand info and rumors.

    What was missing was a professionally run English news outlet working directly with Japanese studios and filmmakers. So, in 2006, we brought together a talented group of published authors and reporters, film historians, reviewers, festival organizers, and movie makers with ties to the Japanese film industry to launch SciFi Japan (More information on our key contributors can be found here). The only English language news site press registered with all of the major Japanese studios and production companies, SciFi Japan is able to consistently bring accurate and exclusive information on Japanese films and shows to English speaking/reading fans worldwide.

    This site also receives updates from licensees and distributors of Japanese movies in North America, the UK and Australia, and we’re press registered with the major American studios as well. So, while our primary focus remains Japanese llive action and anime news we will rinclude international productions in our "International SciFii" and. "Asian Cinema" sections.

    And in 2012, we launched SciFi JAPAN TV, a web series featuring coverage of tokusatsu events and interviews with Japanese filmmakers. Each episode was shot on location in Japan exclusively for SciFi Japan by the Gaijin Channel production team.
