X-Plus Launches New FAVORITE SCULPTORS LINE With 30cm Vakishim

The Japanese collectibles company X-Plus Co., Ltd. has provided SciFi Japan with information and high-res photos of Vakishim, the first giant monster figure in their new FAVORITE SCULPTORS LINE. Vakishim was introduced in Tsuburuya Productions` ULTRAMAN ACE (??????A?????, Urutoraman Eesu, 1972-73) Episode 3: BURN! SUPER-BEAST HELL (??? ????, Moeru Choujuu Jigokuu), a Super-Beast synthesized from a caterpillar and a space monster by the evil alien Yapool. The fan favorite returned in ULTRAMAN MEBIUS (??????????, Uruotraman Mebiusu, 2006-07) asnd has appeared in various Ultra shows and movies over the past decade. The FAVORITE SCULPTORS LINE offers soft vinyl figures based on previously released/limited edition models from top sculptors. It will act as an "umbrella line", incorporating figures from X-Plus` Toho and Tsuburaya Daikaiju and 30cm Series, the Gigantic Series, and more. The 30cm scale Vakishim is sculpted by Koji Sugimoto of the Japanese studio GORT, which has produced figures of Tsuburuya creatures for Medicom Toy as well as sculpts of American characters like the Predator and T-1000. Sugimoto accurately captures the look of the monster with suit wrinkles and other details, including metal fittings on the nails of Vakishim`s hands. The standard "General Distribution" version of the figure will be sold by stores and online retailers including SFJ`s sponsors Anime Jungle and Flossie`s Gifts & Collectibles. X-Plus` official Shounen Ric website is offering a limited edition version with an exclusive light-up feature for fourteen places on Vakishim`s body, including the eyes and back.
