    Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is offering SciFi Japan readers a chance to win all four of their new "Toho Godzilla Collection" Blu-ray sets!

    To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Godzilla franchise, Sony is releasing double features of GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH (1991) + GODZILLA AND MOTHRA: THE BATTLE FOR EARTH (1992), GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA II (1993) + GODZILLA VS. SPACEGODZILLA (1994), GODZILLA VS. DESTOROYAH (1995) + GODZILLA VS. MEGAGUIRUS (2000) and GODZILLA: TOKYO S.O.S. (2003) + GODZILLA: FINAL WARS (2004) on Blu-ray for the first time in North America. Each 2-Disc set will be available from retailers on May 6th (SRP: $19.99 each), but here is your chance to win all four for free! Please Note: Sony wants to give these Blu-rays a big push so our contest rules are a bit different this time. To qualify, you must post a link to this contest online: plug it on your Facebook page, blog, or Twitter account; post a link on movie, home video or sci-fi forums; etc. Then include the re-post URL in your contest entry as verification.

    OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES and INFORMATION

    Prize: A. There are five (5) sets of prizes, with each prize consisting of one (1) GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH + GODZILLA AND MOTHRA: THE BATTLE FOR EARTH Blu-ray Collection, one (1) GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA II + GODZILLA VS. SPACEGODZILLA Blu-ray Collection, one (1) GODZILLA VS. DESTOROYAH + GODZILLA VS. MEGAGUIRUS Blu-ray Collection and one (1) GODZILLA: TOKYO S.O.S. + GODZILLA: FINAL WARS Blu-ray Collection from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. B. Prizes will be shipped to the contest winners so entrants must include a valid mailing address. This contest is only open to participants in the United States and Canada. C. In the event that a winner chooses not to (or cannot) accept a prize, he or she forfeits all claim to that prize. D. One entry per person. Prizes are non-transferable. No substitution of prizes allowed. Duration of contests: A. The "Sony Godzilla Collection Blu-rays" contest runs from April 18 until 11:59pm on April 30, 2014. How to enter: A. Submit your name, email address, mailing address along with the URL for your posted link to qualify for the random drawing. C. Be sure to write "Sony Godzilla Collection Blu-rays" in the subject header of your email entry. SciFi Japan often runs multiple contests at the same time, so any entries without "Sony Godzilla Collection Blu-rays" in the subject header will be discarded. Determination of winners: A. Only contestants who have submitted the requested information will be entered in the final drawing. The first five randomly drawn eligible entries will be judged the winners for this contest. B.     Welcome to SciFi Japan, your source for news and information on science fiction, horror, fantasy and action movies, TV shows and videos.. from classics and old favorites, to upcoming productions and home video releases, to the odd and obscure titles you may never have heard of!

    The mainstream press has largely ignored Japanese tokusatsu (special effects) films, and when the genre has been covered by American news outlets and television the results were often inaccurate and condescending. On the other hand, there have been some excellent fan publications and websites devoted to these films, but Japanese studios have been extremely reluctant to deal with fan groups due to concerns over copyright infringement issues (some fans advocate and promote activities such as video bootlegging and unlicensed downloading). With no direct access to studio news and photos, fan reporting has often been forced to rely on secondhand info and rumors.

    What was missing was a professionally run English news outlet working directly with Japanese studios and filmmakers. So, in 2006, we brought together a talented group of published authors and reporters, film historians, reviewers, festival organizers, and movie makers with ties to the Japanese film industry to launch SciFi Japan (More information on our key contributors can be found here). The only English language news site press registered with all of the major Japanese studios and production companies, SciFi Japan is able to consistently bring accurate and exclusive information on Japanese films and shows to English speaking/reading fans worldwide.

    This site also receives updates from licensees and distributors of Japanese movies in North America, the UK and Australia, and we’re press registered with the major American studios as well. So, while our primary focus remains Japanese llive action and anime news we will rinclude international productions in our "International SciFii" and. "Asian Cinema" sections.

    And in 2012, we launched SciFi JAPAN TV, a web series featuring coverage of tokusatsu events and interviews with Japanese filmmakers. Each episode was shot on location in Japan exclusively for SciFi Japan by the Gaijin Channel production team.
