SciFi Japan continues our coverage of SHIN GODZILLA`s (??????, Shin Gojira) worldwide run with information, images and trailers for the movie`s release in Thailand courtesy of Sahamongkolfilm International Co. Ltd., the country`s top film distributor. "We think that Godzilla is one of the famous Japanese characters Thai people know very well," Panu Aree, Sahamongkolfilm`s Director of Acquisitions, told SFJ. "So when this project was announced, we were very excited. And we believed from the start that this was going to be special. And when we later saw the footage, we said to ourselves that we could not lose it. That`s why we decided to license this movie." SHIN GODZILLA is being distributed through the company`s Mongkol Cinema division. Aree explained that, "Mongkol Cinema is our distribution arm for Asian movies, while Mongkol Major is our distribution arm for Hollywood films and Non-Asian films. Sahamongkolfilm is our main company which also covers the productions of our Thai movies." The film opened in Thailand on September 8th and is being shown on approximately 70-80 screens. Ticket buyers can choose between a Thai dubbed version and the original Japanese audio soundtrack with Thai/English subtitles.
