From 22 November, the festival returns for one week only. Don’t miss your chance to meet this year’s festival guest, Naoyoshi Shiotani. Shiotani is the Animation Director of OBLIVION ISLAND: HARUKA AND THE MAGIC MIRROR, a place where all your childhood items end up, and the Director of TOKYO MARBLE CHOCOLATE, a romantic comedy which is bitter sweet, just like chocolate. Shiotani will be attending the festival’s Anime Matsuri, so big that it’s split into two sessions – both jam-packed with double screenings, co-organised with SMASH! (Sydney Manga and Anime Show!).

Saturday, 27th November

Anime Matsuri Part 1 2.00pm – Double Screening of TIME OF EVE and PRECIOUS TIME OF EVE, a futuristic sci-fi animation, originally a six-part animation but remade into a feature length film with never-seen-before footage. Fast forward to a time where humans and androids coexist and join in the campaigning for robot rights! This session is accompanied with a five-minute animated music video, PRECIOUS. Anime Matsuri Part 2 4.45pm – Special Double Screening and Q+A session with Naoyoshi Shiotani Welcoming one of Japan’s most promising animators, Naoyoshi Shiotani, 33, will make an exclusive appearance to reveal all the behind-the-scenes production details in his latest works, OBLIVION ISLAND: HARUKA AND THE MAGIC MIRROR and TOKYO MARBLE CHOCOLATE. Audience members will have a chance of winning a one-off original artwork, signed by Shiotani himself.
