    Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, announced today the company will distribute to theatres nationwide director Luke Sparke’s latest film, PRIMITIVE WAR Receiving one million trailer views within the first 24 hours of its debut, the highly anticipated dinosaur Vietnam War film will be at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25.

    Featuring Ryan Kwanten (TRUE BLOOD), Tricia Helfer (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, LUCIFER), Nick Wechsler (THE BOYS) and Jeremy Piven (ENTOURAGE, OLD SCHOOL), the film will come to theatres nationwide beginning August 21.

    The film also includes a slew of ensemble talent including Anthony Ingruber (AGE OF ADALINE, INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY), Aaron Glenane (INTERCEPTOR, DANGER CLOSE), Carlos Sanson Jr (BUMP, LEGACIES), Ana Thu Nguyen (MORTAL KOMBAT 2), Albert Mwangi (TOM SWIFT, BLUEBACK), Adolphus Waylee (NAUTILUS), Henry Nixon (TRIANGLE), Lincoln Lewis (TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN) Jeremy Lindsy Taylor (UNDERBELLY) Marcus Johnson (TALK TO ME) and Jake Ryan (TERRITORY).

    Known for his gritty, suspenseful directing style, Luke Sparke’s latest film, PRIMITIVE WAR, takes place during the Vietnam War in 1968. A search and rescue team known as “Vulture Squad” is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon. As they hunt through the primordial depths of the valley, they discover ancient horrors that not only threaten to unravel their minds but also to end their lives . Dinosaurs have somehow been unleashed, and when the casualties mount, the members of “Vulture Squad” must abandon their human nature and give in to their savage instincts in order to survive…

    Based on the popular sci-fi novel by Ethan Pettus, Luke Sparke brings you PRIMITIVE WAR.

    PRIMITIVE WAR is the latest feature film from director Luke Sparke, known for his 2021 film OCCUPATION: RAINFALL, a New York Times pick for their Top 5 Action Films to Stream, making him one to watch. His last film, SCURRY, made its festival world premiere in September at the 2024 Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival, winning the “Audience Choice Award.” The film was shot in Queensland, Australia, at the Sparke Films studio on the Gold Coast, in real-time using only one take. It made its market premiere at AFM on Tuesday, November 5, to fan acclaim.

    Tickets for PRIMITIVE WAR are now available at Fathom Entertainment and participating theatre box offices (theatre locations are subject to change).

    Welcome to SciFi Japan, your source for news and information on science fiction, horror, fantasy and action movies, TV shows and videos.. from classics and old favorites, to upcoming productions and home video releases, to the odd and obscure titles you may never have heard of!

    The mainstream press has largely ignored Japanese tokusatsu (special effects) films, and when the genre has been covered by American news outlets and television the results were often inaccurate and condescending. On the other hand, there have been some excellent fan publications and websites devoted to these films, but Japanese studios have been extremely reluctant to deal with fan groups due to concerns over copyright infringement issues (some fans advocate and promote activities such as video bootlegging and unlicensed downloading). With no direct access to studio news and photos, fan reporting has often been forced to rely on secondhand info and rumors.

    What was missing was a professionally run English news outlet working directly with Japanese studios and filmmakers. So, in 2006, we brought together a talented group of published authors and reporters, film historians, reviewers, festival organizers, and movie makers with ties to the Japanese film industry to launch SciFi Japan (More information on our key contributors can be found here). The only English language news site press registered with all of the major Japanese studios and production companies, SciFi Japan is able to consistently bring accurate and exclusive information on Japanese films and shows to English speaking/reading fans worldwide.

    This site also receives updates from licensees and distributors of Japanese movies in North America, the UK and Australia, and we’re press registered with the major American studios as well. So, while our primary focus remains Japanese llive action and anime news we will rinclude international productions in our "International SciFii" and. "Asian Cinema" sections.

    And in 2012, we launched SciFi JAPAN TV, a web series featuring coverage of tokusatsu events and interviews with Japanese filmmakers. Each episode was shot on location in Japan exclusively for SciFi Japan by the Gaijin Channel production team.
