Since its first appearance in 1954, the monster "Godzilla" has continued to fascinate and shock audiences not only in Japan but around the world.
GODZILLA MINUS ONE (ゴジラ-1.0/ゴジラマイナスワン, Gojira Mainasu Wan, 2023), directed by Takashi Yamazaki, was the 70th anniversary Godzilla film and the 30th live-action Godzilla film produced in Japan. It grossed over 7.65 billion yen at the box office. Furthermore, it achieved the remarkable feat of winning over 50 awards at domestic and international film festivals, including becoming the first Asian film to win the Academy Award for Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards creating a global "Godzilla" phenomenon.
On Friday, November 1st, 2024 it was announced that a new Godzilla film was in production, and that Takashi Yamazaki wpuld continue to serve as director, screenwriter, and VFX artist, following his work on GODZILLA MINUS ONE. Then, approximately one year later, on Monday, November 3rd, 2025 (a national holiday), "Godzilla Day," at "Godzilla Fest 2025" held at Tokyo Dome City, the title of the new Godzilla film, which had been kept completely secret until then, was revealed to the 39,000 attendees before them as GODZILLA-0.0 (GODZILLA MINUS ZERO)!
Upon the unveiling of the title and logo, the news spread rapidly across Japan and the globe, securing the number one spot on X (formerly Twitter) trends. At CinemaCon 2026, held in Las Vegas this past April, the film became the first Japanese movie to be granted a dedicated presentation slot. During Director Takashi Yamazaki’s presentation, the latest information on GODZILLA MINUS ZERO — including the first teaser footage and the announcement that it is the first Japanese live-action Godzilla film (and indeed the first Japanese film) to be produced using "Filmed for IMAX" technology — made headlines worldwide, appearing at the top of major news sites and generating massive global impact.
The film is set for release in Japan on November 3 (Tuesday, a national holiday) and in North America on November 6 (Friday) of the same year!
GODZILLA MINUS ZERO will be released almost simultaneously that same week in Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. Specific release dates for each region will be announced separately. The previous film, GODZILLA MINUS ONE, is currently available for streaming on various platforms.

タイトルとタイトルロゴが解禁されると、そのニュースは瞬く間に日本・世界中を駆け巡り、発表後にはXトレンド1位を獲得。4月にアメリカ・ラスベガスにて開催された【CinemaCon2026】では、日本映画としては初めて作品単体でプレゼンテーションの場が設けられました。山崎貴監督のスピーチにて、ファーストティザー映像や本作が邦画実写ゴジラ映画として、さらには日本映画として初めてFilmed for IMAXで製作されること等、最新作『ゴジラ-0.0』の最新情報が発表されると、各ニュースサイトのトップに掲載されるなど、国内外の大手メディア媒体でも数多く取り上げられ、世界中に大きな衝撃を与えました。
そんな本作の日本での公開は11月3日（火・祝）、さらに北米では同年11月6日（金）に公開致します！

We are pleased to announce the new cast members who will be taking on Godzilla!
Masami Nagasawa (GODZILLA: TOKYO SOS, GODZILLA: FINAL WARS, SHIN ULTRAMAN) will play Makoto Aoyama, a genius weather forecaster seconded from the Meteorological Observatory to the Disaster Response Bureau.
The newly released trailer shows her eagerly proposing a new plan, saying, "May I suggest a Plan B?", demonstrating her use of her intellect to resist the encroaching despair.
Furthermore, Jun Kunimura will play Dr. Ogata, Ko Maehara will play Akira Hagiwara, the assistant to Professor Murakami (Min Tanaka), and Eita Okuno and Kai Inowaki will play Heikichi Tokiwa and Shoichi Honda, respectively, to round out the lineup of talented actors.
It has also been confirmed that Motosuke Iida, who played Akio Itagaki, the section chief of Toyo Balloon who made significant contributions to the Godzilla extermination operation "Operation Wadatsumi" in the previous film GODZILLA MINUS ONE, and Kenji Misuhashi, who played Kunio Tsuruno, will reprise their roles!

The latest trailer begins with Noda's (Hidetaka Yoshioka) shocking words: “We didn’t manage to put Godzilla to rest.”
Two years after the fierce battle in GODZILLA MINUS ONE, Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) and others are unable to hide their shock at the reappearance of "despair." The trailer shows the tense expressions of Murakami (Min Tanaka), a biologist introduced in this film, and Aoyama, a weather forecaster played by Masami Nagasawa (whose casting has just been announced), as well as the declaration that “Operation Narukami” is now underway. Born in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture in 1964. He was deeply influenced by STAR WARS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND when he was a child, and decided to pursue a career in special effects. After graduating from Asagaya College of Art and Design, he joined Shirogumi Inc. in 1986. He worked on special effects and digital compositing for films directed by Juzo Itami, including THE LAST DANCE (大病人, Daibyōnin, 1993) and A QUIET LIFE (静かな生活, Shizukana Seikatsu, 1995). He made his directorial debut with JUVENILE (ジュブナイル, Jubunairu) in 2000, and is a leading figure in the field of visual effects and VFX, utilizing advanced CG visuals.
His movie ALWAYS -SUNSET ON THIRD STREET- (ALWAYS 三丁目の夕日, Ōruweizu: San-chōme no Yūhi, 2005), garnered acclaim for its VFX depiction of Showa-era cityscapes, replete with heartwarming humanity, vitality, and atmosphere. The film won 12 awards at the 29th Japan Academy Prize, including Best Picture and Best Director. His films THE ETERNAL ZERO (永遠の0, Eien no Zero, 2013) and STAND BY ME DORAEMON (STAND BY ME ドラえもん, Sutando Bai Mī Doraemon, 2014) won a combined nine awards at the 38th Japan Academy Prize, including Best Picture and Best Animated Film.
Furthermore, for GODZILLA MINUS ONE, where he served as director, screenwriter, and VFX supervisor, he achieved the first-ever Visual Effects Award for a Japanese film at the 96th Academy Awards. He is considered one of Japan’s leading film directors.
