IDW Publishing Godzilla artist Matt Frank has offered SciFi Japan readers an exclusive preview of his cover artwork for the Godzilla: Complete Rulers of Earth Vol. 1 Trade Paperback, collecting issues #1–12 of the Godzilla: Rulers of Earth series. IDW`s trade collections generally reuse cover artwork from the comics, and their solicitations for Godzilla: Complete Rulers of Earth featured Matt Frank`s "Godzilla vs Zilla" cover from Godzilla: Rulers of Earth #2. Frank explained how he swayed the publisher into going with an original illustration... "I begged and pleaded to do a cover for the collected edition, although IDW had already decided they wanted to do something different than usual, so it initially wasn`t needed. I still requested at least a spot in the book for a pinup, which I was granted. Once I drew it up, and had Paul Hanley flat it and Gonçalo Lopez color it, IDW was apparently so pleased with it that they went ahead and made it the cover!"
